The 27th annual Faymondo music awards

So save the best until last and with the awards season finally behind us it is time for one last event and the 27th annual Faymondo music awards. First scribbled down in a maths exercise book I had robbed whilst being at Calderstones School as a spotty and obviously nerdy 15 year old. Little did I know that 27 years later I would still be doing this shite and now in a position to let the rest of the world know. The 1988 Faymondo music awards were proudly sponsored by Thunderbirds fortified wines brought to you by Ashe and Nephew off license bought by me as I was the biggest out of the gang ! Musical choice was limited back then to albums bought by pocket money, birthday or chrimbo prezzies and anything I managed to tape to tape (Later with high speed dubbing !!! ) from my mates. As you can see from the list below I was quite loyal to certain bands back in the day who could have released “Old Mcdonald” and won an award ! There will be no doubt so dodgy choices in my youth and some might argue for more recent choices.  Some 27 years later the music industry is a much different beast. Now it’s Spotify which opens up so much more music to me and I have gone full circle and I am buying vinyl albums once again. So because of this I listened to more new albums than ever in 2014. Below is the shortlist of what I listened to most.

Tea Street Band

Myron & E

The Last Mad Surge Of Youth

Henry Priestman

Love Letters

So due to times of austerity I have had to cancel my planned award night which was to be held in The Albert pub on Lark Lane with free sozzy rolls and Seabrooks crisps and instead I have just had to announce it on here. So OK it’s not the Glastonbury line up we are all waiting for and I cross my fingers to see as many of the bands on the historic award winning list to play this year but I have a feeling Londonbeat might be busy !!

So without further ado I am proud to announce the winners and runners up for the 27th annual edition of the Faymondo Music Awards (2014) and have included the previous 26 years for you to look at the historic document have a laugh at.

So there you go, congratulations to all winners and it was a tough call for the album of the year with both the winner and runner up being played loads and still listening to them now. For some reason I always struggle for a best female which must indicate a certain musical taste I have. So see you in Spring 2016 for the 28th annual Faymondo Music Awards and another year of being a sad bastard !
